The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change. Online Platforms Reaction Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification. The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services. The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction. Measurement Approach Updates Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Member Stories Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said. Required Changes Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products". "Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained. Platform Context The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users. It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
