The Reform UK leader Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by telling children that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this negative culture.”

In response to these assertions, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his public life on dog-whistle politics and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their unions for a fight,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”

The party, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with education – absolutely herculean. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, years to turn this around.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.

The politician has charged the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and millions of days of lost learning for children.

At the US event, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I am serious. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of freedom. The college furnishes these excellent programs for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
