Spurs Manager Thomas Frank Calls Goalkeeper Critics 'Not Real Supporters'

Fulham Start Strong to Beat Tottenham and Raise Pressure on the Manager

Spurs supporters who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were informed afterwards "those individuals can't be real Spurs fans" by manager Frank.

Tottenham let in a pair of scores in the first initial moments to fall 2-1 to their opponents, registering their 10th Premier League home defeat of 2025.

But the main topic of discussion was the visitors' next score when Vicario lost possession far beyond his box.

The goalkeeper came out to handle a high pass and took the ball near the sideline.

However, instead of booting it out of play, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was collected by King.

The forward laid the ball off to Welsh midfielder Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the touchline recorded at 36.6 yards.

Seconds afterwards when the ball came to the keeper again, a number of Spurs supporters jeered him.

Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and again at full-time.

One of those booing episodes truly irritated Frank.

"I heard some of our fans reportedly jeered the situation and booed after, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the supporters' reaction to his goalkeeper.

"[They] can't be real Tottenham supporters that act that way. Fair enough booing after the match, fine, but when we are playing, we are backing one another, we are with each other moving ahead."

Kenny Tete had given Fulham a fourth-minute lead before Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Spurs in an better second-half performance.

Ex- Premier League keeper Hart remarked that the next score was "completely avoidable".

"I do understand the supporters' disappointment," Hart added. "I know the part Vicario is playing. He is a great squad member, he's a true figure in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your decisions.

"He was heavily involved in what ended up to be the winning goal."

'It is In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Vicario Following the Game

Italian national team the keeper is in his 3rd campaign with Tottenham.

He stated following the match that he had to accept the feedback.

"The second score was a error of mine, I take accountability for that," he said.

"My aim was to clear the ball far and I simply hit the ball in a bad manner. It was an even bigger mountain to overcome."

He stated being booed "is part of the game".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he added. "We can't be affected by the circumstances in the stands. The fans have the right to do as they see fit.

"It is on us to stay more composed, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is lacking in calmness and poise to overturn results. Today is a poor defeat and it is hard to take."

'It Shocked Me Nobody Went Back to the Line'

In spite of the keeper's mistake, it was far from an easy score for Wilson to score.

In fact it was the next most distant Premier League score of the campaign – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three yard strike for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly too came on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an empty goal to target.

10 seconds passed between the keeper coming out of his area and Wilson shooting – which was five seconds after the kick.

"I felt like the keeper was away from the area for a long time," Wilson said.

"I was surprised none of the back four returned to the goal line. When not one of them defended the goal, my interest lit up a bit.

"Udogie slipped as well, which gave me a little extra opportunity. Then it was all about attempting to achieve the correct contact and get it on target. I had a good sense, as soon as it left my foot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Poor Run, Everything Appears to Go Against You'

Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - Frank

Although Vicario's error dominated coverage, this was an all-round bad day for Tottenham to continue their home ground struggles.

This was their 10th home loss of the year in the league, a shared team statistic along with nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

The side still have home games against Frank's old side the Bees and title holders Liverpool to play before the end of the year.

Only one of those wins have come after the manager took over from his predecessor in the summer.

"When you're down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to overcome," stated the boss.

"During in a bad spell, all aspects appears to go against you as well – the opening was a deflected shot, the second is a mistake from the keeper.

"This result leaves us in a position where we have lost another game. Every game has a single narrative, today we were defeated in the early stages.

"We simply need to keep working. The second half was much better and with luck something we can use to develop."

Tottenham have lost four straight at home London derbies for the first time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are recording 9.5 shots and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their lowest averages on record in a single campaign (dating back to 2003-04).

Ex- Cottagers midfield player Danny Murphy stated that the manager has to ride the storm.

"He's got accept the criticism," Murphy said. "He's accepted a prestigious role at a huge team with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
