PSG Edges Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the scoring early on.

However, Marseille fired two times late to take a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital equaliser in the final seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to seal a convincing shootout win.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
