Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
