Indianapolis Colts Battle Atlanta Falcons in Berlin – Week 10 NFL Action

Hello, football fans. Wie gehts? Alles klar I trust on this excellent early start to the tenth week coming straight outta Deutschland. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be precise where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Indianapolis Colts (seven wins and two losses) face off against the Atlanta Falcons (three wins and five losses). The fifth game played on soil in Germany and the first in the capital city.

Pregame Highlights

As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A minor slip from Sky Sports there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the commentator with an unfortunately hot mic.

Well, the Colts have won the toss and have chosen to get the ball first. Daniel Jones and company will be setting up shortly. Will the QB bounce back after a difficult performance in their last game?

In a similar vein the singer belting out the US national anthem has some of the largest shoulder pads you are bound to notice. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choir performance for the German anthem. Classy.

First Quarter Gameplay

Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter

And we're off! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back receives a short throw, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right side then loses the ball … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the recovery. Colts are in Falcons territory already.

Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter

And the excitement continues as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The gamble fails to pay off as Josh Downs fails to catch a quick pass from Jones. Prior to the failed attempt the Falcons defender put a massive tackle on the Colts' tight end. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!

Touchdown Updates

First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36

Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was wide open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That play rather sums up the first round pick’s career to date.

So far, so disappointing but it only gets worse for the Falcons as they cough the ball back to the Colts on the 23-yard line. The Falcons quarterback is hunted down and fumbles the football.

A nifty 22-yard run from Ashton Dulin sets the running back up to easily run for a touchdown on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley skews the extra point wide. Oops.

Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07

The quarterback recovers from the turnover by marching his Falcons down the field for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some substantial catches to put them in the scoring area then the defense opens up for Tyler Allgeier to saunter on to the goal line through the heart of the field for 13 yards. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. Advantage Atlanta.
